Alain Tanner

A good site. Perhaps you can help me locate more information about the films sound track music?  For many years I've been wanting to know who performed the 3rd and 2nd last  songs in the BFI short fim "Nice Time" from 1957....? One was a vocal version of  "I don't Want Your Greenback Dollar"  the other was a haunting ballad rendition featuring a humming voice and excellent whistler. The film credits are scant and do not specify what artists actually perform these tracks. I'm wanting to know the name of these performers. Were they lifted from available records of the day? (mid 50s) or were these recording made for the film by unknown people?. The whistling rendition of this fine song sounds as if it has been multi - track recorded to sound as if there are two whistlers. Please help me to find out if these are available on record ? (or preserved on CD?) . There have been many versions of this great song, but I'm only interested in the ballad versions used on the sound track of the film. The BFI web site has only scant information (as does the film). Any information you can give me to find the name of the performer on the film sound track will help to end a many years long search....Thanks for any help you can give.
